Atticbook: Home Inventory

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I back up my inventory?

Open Settings and tap Backup & Recovery (you'll also see a banner for it on the home screen if any photos need attention). Under Export, tap Export .atticbook archive to save a complete backup — your full inventory, photos included — to a location you choose in Files. Export room-by-room PDF and Export CSV are right below it, and both are free too. The Save health section at the top of Backup & Recovery shows when your inventory was last saved and last exported, so you can see at a glance whether you have a current copy.

How do I restore from a backup?

In Backup & Recovery, tap Restore from .atticbook and choose a backup file from Files. Atticbook shows you a preview first — item count, photo count, size, and when it was created — then asks "Replace all your items?" Tapping Replace everything restores from the archive; tapping Cancel leaves your current inventory untouched. Restoring always replaces everything currently in Atticbook, so review the preview first.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Deleting Atticbook removes its local data from your device, including every room, item, and photo. Atticbook has no account and no server, so there is no copy of your records anywhere except your device and any backups you have exported. We recommend saving a copy to an off-device location — such as iCloud Drive or another provider in Files — before deleting the app or switching devices: a copy stored that way can survive the loss of this device. A copy kept "On My iPhone" stays on this device and shares its fate.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

Free lets you create up to 25 items, and every export — the .atticbook archive, the PDF report, and the CSV — is always free and unlimited, no matter how many items you have. If you restore a bigger inventory from a backup, all of it stays visible: you can view, export, and delete any item, though only 25 stay editable (you choose which) until you add Atticbook Pro or bring the count back under 25.
Atticbook Pro (one-time purchase, USD 5.99) removes the item cap entirely. It is not a subscription; you pay once.

How does Atticbook handle my photos?

You can add one photo per item, either by picking an existing photo or taking a new one with the camera. Picking a photo uses Apple's system photo picker, so Atticbook only ever receives the single photo you chose — never a listing of your library. Every photo is stored only on your device, inside Atticbook's private storage, and is included when you export a .atticbook archive or a PDF report. Atticbook never uploads a photo anywhere on its own.

What's the difference between the PDF report and the CSV export?

Export room-by-room PDF produces a readable report — photos, an item table, room and grand totals, and the report generation date — organized to hand to an insurer or keep for your own records. Export CSV produces a plain spreadsheet file with every item's details, useful for your own spreadsheets or other tools. Both are free, and both can be exported as often as you like.

Where is the "Restore Purchase" button?

Open Settings > Atticbook Pro and tap Restore Purchase. This restores your Atticbook Pro purchase (removing the 25-item cap) using the Apple Account you bought it with — it does not restore your inventory data. If you're looking to bring back your items and photos from a backup file instead, see "How do I restore from a backup?" above.

Can I get a refund?

All billing and refunds are handled by Apple; we cannot issue refunds directly. Request one at Apple's reportaproblem.apple.com.
